Good Driver Characteristics

Good drivers should:

Be able to time the operation of all the controls to use them correctly,

smoothly and accurately

Be aware at all times of the road surface conditions

Take care to be seen in all weather and light conditions

Keep a safe distance between the vehicle ahead

Be aware at all times of the position, movement and intentions of

following vehicles

Be aware of potential dangers by scanning well ahead and plan to deal

with them in good time.

Show consideration and courtest to other road users at all times

Be able to control their emotions and not to get involved in confrontations

to avoid Road Rage leading to dangerous driving

Hallmarks of a good driver are:

Always in the correct position for the situation

Always driving at the correct speed for the road conditions

Always in the correct gear for the power requirements matching the

road speed and engine load requirements.
